Like every precious thing in life, sterling silver is a beautiful and timeless metal that requires proper care to maintain its shine and prevent tarnishing.

  • Apply cosmetics first – Put on perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays before wearing your jewellery. Wait a few minutes for them to dry completely to avoid chemical reactions that can tarnish silver.

  • Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals – Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, cleaning, or applying strong beauty products.

  • Store properly – Keep pieces in a cool, dry place, ideally in our signature Keyyah packaging or an airtight bag or tarnish-resistant pouch. Store separately to prevent scratches.

  • Wear it often – Natural skin oils help slow tarnishing, so regular wear can keep silver looking polished.
  • Use a polishing cloth – Gently buff with a microfiber or silver polishing cloth for quick shine restoration.

  • Mild soap & water – Mix warm water with mild dish soap, soak briefly, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

  • Silver dip or cleaning solutions – We don't recommend using silver dip generally. For stubborn tarnish, use a specialized silver cleaner (follow instructions carefully).

  • Avoid harsh cleaners – Never use baking soda, toothpaste, or abrasive pads, as they can scratch the surface.
  • Anti-tarnish strips – Place in your jewellery box to absorb moisture and slow tarnishing.

  • Silica gel packets – Helps reduce humidity, which accelerates tarnish.
